I have to reach Changi Airport at 5.30am to catch my flight to Sarawak for GYL which means, I need to wake up at 4am! But, nonetheless, I was super excited about the trip! Haven't been on an oversea trip with the school since Sec 1. Dad and Mum drove me to the airport and we reached earlier than expected.
We reached Kuching International Airport at 9.15am and it actually took us another hour to reach Santubong Resort by coach. The resort room, 8106 was great and my room mates are Sandy and Shyanne! We have a king sized bed and a queen sized bed. The room was big and the toilet was nice. And of course we have great neighbours in 8105. Haha. First day we went to Sarawak Cultural Village. We saw the long houses and there is something with human skulls in Sarawak. They head hunt people to display their heroism in the past, thats eww. Also, when the Chief of the village dies 2 or 3 children will be squashed to death to accompany the Chief in heaven. That sounds scary. However, i feel that this tour was quite tiring, its like I got out of bed at 4am and i hardly catch any sleep and we have to walk around visiting how Sarawak was like in the past. Mentally tired on the first day, but enriching.

The second day we went for sea activities. We reach Permai Camp, about 10 minutes away from our resort for kayaking and raft building as well as outdoor cooking. We start of with kayaking and my kayak partner was Laurel. We coordinated pretty well and managed to kayak quite fast. After that, we went for lunch at a cafe in the nature reserve. Had buffet again and we made a whole lot of din there with all our games. After that we carried on with raft building. It was really a great experience building a raft for the first time, of course I was very excited about it. We did some knots and lashings to secure the barrels and the planks and i realised i need to bursh up on my campcraft skills. I seems to forget most of the knots and lashings. Our raft managed to go out to the sea and travelled quite a distance and we were so determined to win the other group that we caught up with them real fast in the water and lost to their when dismantling the raft. But whatever the result is, I have a great time in the sea.
After that we went on to go outdoor cooking. Its not the usually outdoor cooking we do with mess tins and maggi mee, we are cooking bamboo chicken in the forest! All the spices, chicken and water was added into the bamboo and cooked over the fire. We have to find edible leaves ourselves for covering the top of the bamboo and the leaves have to young with jagged edges, had a tough time finding it. The chicken tasted yummy and the gravy was also great, we made a cup out of the leaf to drink the soup. Its really an experience. =)
Next, we had dinner on the beach. What a romantic setting! haha. Before that, we played soccer on the beach. My first time playing soccer on the beach and it was a great match.
I think i'm getting a lil long winded here. But bear with me!

Third day, we went to Bako National Park. The journey there was 1 hour bus ride plus a 20 minutes boat ride. It was low tide at that point of time and the boat have to stop near the beach and we have to walk on the muddy sand to the national park. During our trek up, we saw this dutch monkey which looks weird. It has a long nose and a super long straight tail. Its hair looks like as if it was wearing a vest. Interesting thing. We saw the mangrove and many trees and i got to know that there is this kind of root that will have water gushing out when chopped and its drinkable! The trail was slippery and steep and this is when we showed team spirit! We saw many plants and the guide explained a lot and i can't remember a lot. Hee.
After that journey back to resort for the preparation for Gala Night. Our group is presenting an edited song item with self made musical instrument. Its a fun experience and we had many funny occurences. Then, of course it was Gala Night but it turned out to be GaY-La Night! We had many photo taking sesssions there and its really a fun night. We were dancing crazily towards the end of this event. And yes, the best part about the last night of the camp is that, there is no curfew! We don have to be in our room by 11pm! So we invited everyone to my room to play game. We played "Guo Wang You Xi" and many cranky ideas came out! Everyone had a good laugh.

Aww.. The camp is ending. Its the last day in the camp. Nothing much happened, just that its raining and we can't get to the restaurant for our breakfast without our poncho and we were late for breakfast. After breakfast we had some group presentations and reflections. After that we took the coach to town to do some shopping and had our dinner. Then its back to Kuching International Airport. I feel kinda sad that the camp ended this fast, I'll really miss all the fun we had during the camp! We took lotsa photos again!
This is the best camp that I've ever been. Everyone is so bonded and yup, its just real fun!
Landed at Changi International Airport at 10.17pm. Dad, mum and my two brothers came to the airport to fetch me! Home sweet home!
[I will put up the photos when I get most of the pictures from the others =)]
